The Gold Room

This room fascinates as only gold will fascinate!  The Gold Room is an enchanting Chicago banquet facility built during the construction of the South Tower, between 1902 and 1907, and was considered to be the most magnificent room of its kind in America.  Originally called the Grand Banquet Hall, the walls and ceiling were literally plastered with gold leaf.  Its palatial Italian Renaissance walls give it the feel of a 19th Century room. The arched ceiling, fifty feet above the floor, was one of the first vaulted ceilings to be supported without the use of pillars.  The beautiful ceiling mural was created by the artist William Dodge.  When it is illuminated by the clustered lights over the gallery that encircles the room, it presents a scene unrivaled.  If you envision an affair that is elegant and formal, you must see the Gold Room.

The Congress Plaza Hotel has three additional ballrooms.  The Florentine Room is an ideal setting for wedding receptions and formal banquets, while the Great Hall is perfect for graduation and award ceremonies. Our Windsor Room has over 3,000 square feet of space for seminars and trade fairs.  We look forward to showing you our wonderfully unique ballrooms when you visit the Congress Plaza Hotel.  Please call us at 312-427-3800 and ask for the Catering Department.  You may contact the Catering Department online at:  catering@congressplazahotel.com
